Weekend Reading

I caved and bought The Goldfinch yesterday. Despite the stacks of unread books all over the place in my apartment, I was craving something new and absorbing, and I decided Donna Tartt’s highly praised new book was it. I’m enjoying it so far.

Here’s what I’ve been reading this week/weekend:

I’m always interested in people’s morning and evening routines. Kevin Daum describes 7 Ways to Start a Great Day and how to end your day if you want to be truly productive on Inc. These lists seem a little over-ambitious,  I think if I did everything on both lists daily it would take at least 4 extra hours every day. But there’s some good ideas and strategies in both that could definitely be worth trying out or adapting into your own routine.

Speaking of morning routines, I like to revisit The Daily Zen’s Beginner’s Guide to Meditation – a great introduction to one of the best things you can do for yourself in the morning.

I loved this article: the benefits of being a Type B personality.

I’m very intrigued by Jen Campbell’s idea to create a book jar and put in slips of paper with all the titles on her TBR list. She draws out a title, and reads whatever she picks next. Extremely fun idea – I’m not sure my whim/mood based reading style could handle it though!
