HP7 & The Eyre Affair

yes hi hello! Despite finishing Harry Potter on Saturday, my internet absence went on a little longer than I intended when I forgot to pack my powerbook’s power cord in Michigan. But ahoy – it arrived in the mail today thanks to a timely mailing by my dad.

I don’t want to post any spoilers here, and most of my book club friends can read my comments on our boards. But I loved it. I thought it was a perfect conclusion.

The release party at Barnes and Noble was fun. Lots of great costumes. My favorite was Cornelious Fudge, complete with pinstripe robes, who went around to all the Dumbledores and Harry Potters and yelled “Lies! Lies! The Dark Lord has not returned!” And at midnight things turned absolutely crazy. It was a stampede to the front each time a new group of numbers were called. But we managed to make it out of there by 12:35. Many people were there until 3 or 4, I’m sure.

Now I’m reading The Eyre Affair. This has been on my TBR list for a long time. It’s also on my Summer Reading List, which is looking staggeringly unaccomplished considering it’s the end of July. It’s hard to stick to a pre-chosen list for yourself.

After this, I also want to start reading Alexander McCall Smith’s #1 Ladies Detective Agency books. I’m counting on loving them, and the Thursday Next books too. It would be nice to have a series to get into again.
